Chapter Five [awakening] I could hear the soft patter of rain on a roof top somewhere. The sound was soothing, but not enough to deal with the painful headache throbbing in the space behind my eye sockets. Even with my eyes closed and the soft rain, it still felt like someone was inside my head driving nails into that single spot. [Escape]   The stale air burned my lungs as I propelled myself up yet another flight of stairs, passing several more doors. I continued running, pushing myself, afraid to open any of them for fear that I would run into more of whatever those creatures were.
